Hi Tammie and welcome! It’s great to have you here and congratulations on the upcoming release of Sworn To Secrecy!

Book twoWhere did the inspiration behind Sworn To Secrecy come from?

I seem to get a lot of ideas from a small family history book. My debut novel, and the #1 Kindle Bestselling Gothic Romance, Island of Secrets was also based on a passage I found interesting in that small red volume of genealogy.  I’m beginning to think I have a pretty interesting family.

How would you compare writing this book with writing your previous books; Keeping Secrets and Island of Secrets?

I hope that my fans will find Sworn to Secrecy the best of both. Many of the characters from Keeping Secrets are in Sworn to Secrecy. In fact, the hero is one of the supporting characters from Keeping Secrets and since the new series those two books are in is all about Undercover Heroes you can expect to see even more of the dashing men introduced in these books in future ones. The really unique thing about book two is that it has allowed me to return to my first love, time-travel. Island of Secrets is known for being a non-traditional or different time travel because it the future and past story lines coexist so that the reader knows the consequences of the time-travel. In Sworn to Secrecy, I use yet another different time-travel treatment that opens up so many possibilities for the series. This book is the first I’ve written entirely since being published. The other two books were in great part written over the course of several years. Sworn to Secrecy has had my undivided attention and I’m so excited at how the story has turned out.

How did you start writing? Was there a particular book or moment in your life that spurred you on? BOOK THREE

I have always loved to read. My mother often got annoyed with me because I learned to set the table without looking while walking around with my nose stuck in a book.  Writing had never been anything I even considered. Now, I realize that even then I was crafting stories because I loved to daydream. I would take a blanket into the woods behind my house and look up into the sky for hours using my imagination.

When I was a junior in high school, I was required to take a short story class. We had to write one short story a week for the entire quarter. Well, I forgot to write mine until really late the night before it was due. I laid across my bed and penned out a quick story and turned it in the next day.  When I got it back I’d made an A+ and won over my teacher who told me “in writing” that he thought I’d found what I should be doing with the rest of my life.  He would share each of my stories each week with the entire teacher’s lounge and it was nothing to be stopped in the hallway by a teacher I didn’t know and told they loved my story. The rest as they say is history.

How do you organize your writing time?

Having started a business just two weeks after high school graduation, I had to learn early on how to squeeze the most out of my time. All I can say is that without my systems I’d be lost. Much of the time I group like tasks together and do them all at once. We all really do waste an enormous amount of time when we fail to plan.  That being said, I do still consider myself a punster when it comes to my writing.

book oneWhere is your best ‘writing space’; the place where you feel comfortably locked away from the world and able to let your creative juices flow?

Fortunately, another thing I learned early on was how to work despite noise and distraction. When I was in school I had to have the TV on in order to do my homework. I just need noise. I cannot stand total quiet. The place I do most of my writing now is in my recliner in our living room. I love listening to instrumentals on Pandora. I especially like those with running water and nature sounds woven in with the music.

And finally, tell us an interesting fact about yourself that not many people know.

I got my start in business by dressing up like Raggedy Ann and walking the streets of my small hometown with a bunch of balloons. I’ve also won both National and International Awards for some of my balloon arrangement designs.

Thank you for being here today Tammie.

Thank you so much for having me and giving me the opportunity to share about my new book Sworn to Secrecy which should be available for purchase the end of February or first part of March.  Until then, I invite all of you readers to check out Island of Secrets and Keeping Secrets.
